Todd and Brandon, one of 2016’s best couple award winners. According to me.
What can I say about these two? Easily as sweet and kind as they are handsome, I felt an immediate bond and great fondness for them the minute they welcomed me into their home and introduced me to their beloved dog, Baylee, perhaps the cutest French Bulldog that I’ve ever seen. I photographed their engagement photos (one of which was published in The Knot magazine with the story of their engagement) earlier in the year in Tribeca and that experience made me even more excited to shoot their early Fall Bridgehampton wedding at The Topping Rose House. They did not disappoint.
We are talking love-fest. I was thrilled to be apart of not just the engagement shoot and wedding but also a dinner party wedding celebration in New York City and a rehearsal dinner on Indian Wells Beach in Amagansett, catered by Bostwick’s Clam Bakes and Debbie Geppert Events. The highlight of the rehearsal dinner was a toast referring to Brandon as the “olympics of men” in reference to the question, “how do you get better than Todd?”.
I’ve been very curious about The Topping Rose House since the revamp a couple of years ago. Having grown up in Amagansett, I have driven past the gorgeous stately building for years and was happy to see it transformed by Bill Campbell and Simon Critchell with the help of the architect Roger Ferris and Partners into a fabulous luxury hotel with a Jean Georges farm to table restaurant on the ground floor. The perfect melding of classic and modern style suited the grooms’ (and mine) sensibility perfectly. They said that they wanted the look and vibe of the wedding to feel like one of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ renovated homes on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. Sophisticated, but not stuffy.
This is where the wonderful event planner, Jill Gordon Celebrate and floral designer, Lilee Fell came in and magic ensued. Candles, candles, candles. Flowers, flowers, flowers. Sexy, sexy, sexy. Lots of white, greens, reclaimed wood, and succulents layered the super long farm table set up. Jill Gordon’s vision and Lilee Fell’s floral design was truly magical and gasp-worthy. Brandon later referred to Jill as part planner/part therapist, part family member (she’s not)/part yoga instructor.
Todd’s Mom officiated the ceremony which I highly recommend. Having a close family member or friend officiate or writing your own vows is truly special and so personal. Of course, since they’re perfect and dreamy, Todd and Brandon did both.
Todd walked down the aisle with his mother and father and Brandon walked down the aisle with his mother, father, and Baylee the Frenchy and tears flowed. A pop of color, thank you Christian Louboutin, on Brandon’s souls added a hint of humor as he came down the aisle.
Todd and Brandon could not have been more elegant in Black Shawl collar formal tuxedos from JCrew but they outdid themselves with an outfit change, making their entrance into the dinner reception in white dinner jackets, also shawl collars by JCrew.
The evening was topped off with a wild dance party featuring DJ Dave from Jarrell Entertainment, a dessert table, carrot cake cupcakes and Hampton Popcorn Company popcorn favors, and crazy costumes to wear on the dance floor in the rustic barn on Topping Rose property.
