Michelle and Adam both grew up on Long Island- Michelle drives out to Greenport on the North Fork a lot, so The Halyard at Soundview really spoke to them as a wedding destination. It hangs over the LI sound- it’s nautical, modern; cool, beautiful, and simplistic in style. Just like Michelle and Adam. Very low key beachy vibe.
Chef Stephan Bogardus , a holistic chef, helped them create the perfect menu tailored to the season, location, and their love of food and Rachel Flatley made the super chic cake, an almond brown butter cake with raspberry jam and rosewater buttercream. The buttercream on the outside was dyed dark blue and decorated with a heap of glorious rich berries and florals by Calluna Flora.
Adam and Michelle met 20 years ago when they were dating mutual friends. Adam and his friends were hot skater guys and Michelle and her friends followed them around, as ya do.
They reconnected on Facebook in January 2013 when she friend requested him. He immediately responded, “take my number and call or text me any time, and let’s do something before we get too old.” “Don’t be a square- hit me up!” LOL. Skater guys never grow old.
“We met each other at a time in which we both needed to find a good person, of course with common values and ways of seeing the world. Our childhood connected us, so that was very special. I probably fell in love with Adam because of his guarded vulnerability and quirkiness. He has this hardened, semi-emotionless shell but I knew inside he was sweet and fragile, and very, very caring, and I wanted to open that up. My intuition told me there was more than meets the eye–I just had to chip away at him a bit! I admire Adam’s loyalty, strength, perseverance, drive for success, and doing what’s best for him and our family- he always puts myself, Kaia and AJ before anything.
It was very important that our kids were incorporated into our ceremony. They are in fact the reason we had a desire to marry! It just made our family unit stronger and bonded.” #couplegoals
