Larissa and Ben’s mutual love of nature led them to the New York Botanical Garden, the first and last place we considered for our special day. Each of us has large families that live all over the world. They both have family and friends all over the world, so NYC made sense for their 250 guests.
In February 2015 Ben and Larissa met through a mutual friend. After a fantastic first date (Larissa was 25 minutes late and they still managed to have a great time), followed by a great second date at a blues club in the village, by date four they were officially a couple.
Larissa, being a bit of an introvert, dreamt of eloping. Ben’s dream was to host an enormous party. They compromised on a wedding of some 250 guests. In addition to travel and the great outdoors, we both love a good dance party. We made sure to incorporate this into our wedding: our band, The Engagements, specializes in 60s, 70s, and 80s beats that had us and our guests on the dance floor all evening long. They even slipped in a few Paul Simon tunes from “Graceland,” which was extra meaningful given Ben’s South African heritage.
